Lupembe Tea Estates Ltd is situated in the Southern Highlands in district Njombe, Iringa at an elevation of 1600m. Due to locational advantage Lupembe produces one of the finest liquoring CTC teas of Tanzania.

Lupembe Tea Factory was established way back in 1960 by George Williamson as a single line CTC factory. In 1975 it was taken over by Tanzania Tea Authority who added another line of CTC in 1989 and run it like that till 1999. In 2000 the government decided to privatize this factory and it was taken over by Dhow Mercantile Ltd. In 2002 Lupembe Tea Estates Ltd took over the management of the company, and from May 2005 it is being run successfully as Lupembe Tea Estates Ltd with professionally qualified management team.

Since takeover, Lupembe Tea Estates Ltd has been fully modernised by installing latest 36” jumbo CTC from India FBD dryers from Mccloy Kenya. At present the factory is capable of handling 100,000kgs of Green leaves everyday.
